DANCE WITH US ALL SUMMER!

Picture
Summer is the perfect time to maintain the progress dancers have made over the course of the season: it keeps our momentum going and makes space to develop more advanced skills. It’s also a great opportunity to try new classes! This summer, we have a little something for everyone:

  • Classes for ages 7 and up are offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from June 30th through July 31st.
  • Classes and camps for dancers 18 months to 6 years will be held Saturdays from July 12th through August 2nd.
  • An adult dance series will take place on Wednesdays from July 2nd through July 30th.
  • NEW: Mat Pilates for ages 8+ to adult will also be offered Wednesdays in July.
  • Private and small group lessons are also available and are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to the classes you've come to know and love, here are some of the new offerings we've got this summer:
  • Acro Fundamentals is open to beginner and experienced dancers alike and will focus on mastering the three fundamental acro skills: bridge, cartwheel, and handstand.
  • Cartwheels & Aerials will meet dancers where they are and specifically focus on drills and progressions to help them achieve variations of these skills.
  • Dance Camps for ages 3 through 6 combine creative movement, musical interpretation, stretching, stories, crafts, and games!
  • Improv Techniques will use movement and storytelling prompts to allow dancers to explore their artistry, textures, timing, and musicality.
  • My Grown Up & Me is a class designed for dancers between 18 months and 3 years to take with a special grown-up. They will learn creative movement, dance concepts like spacing, levels, rhythm and tempo, and more—all in a fun, low-stakes environment.
  • Tap Technique will focus on building strength and flexibility in the hips, knees, and ankles to promote coordination and speed of movement, thus developing technical proficiency and producing clear tap sounds. Students will also hone musicality, syncopation, and rhythmic accuracy.

COMPANY & COMPETITION STUDENT REQUIREMENTS: Company and competition students must take a minimum of 8 courses:
  • 1 Ballet Technique class;
  • 1 Jump, Turn & Stretch class;
  • 1 tap class;
  • 1 musical theatre class;
  • 2 conditioning or technique electives (e.g., acro, flexibility, improv techniques, leaps/turns clinics, or strength & conditioning); and
  • 2 discipline electives (e.g., contemporary, hip hop, jazz, or lyrical).
And of course, the more classes you take, the better. Depending on their goals for placement, we might also recommend a specific set of courses for a dancer, which may exceed the 8-class minimum requirement.
